Dominique Tolbert, Chief Spice Officer & Founder of Mesean Spices, is a first generation American, with family from Liberia, West Africa. She has a background in restaurant management, culinary arts, & entrepreneurship, working with clients in both domestic and international markets. Mesean Spices is Dominique’s brainchild, allowing you to create community through food & culture.

Our Story

Mesean Spices started with our sister company, TLBRT Hospitality, a catering and events company that specializes in African fusion cuisine. When catering for clients, we make all spice blends, marinades, dressings, and sauces from scratch. We noticed a few different items that our clients continued asking us to prepare, so they could use at home for everyday cooking. That’s when we had an aha moment - what if we bottled up and packaged some of these items that they frequently requested, for others to use as well? And, that’s how Mesean Spices was born.

We bring the flavors of West Africa, The Caribbean, and Latin America - The African Diaspora - to you and your kitchen, through a variety of savory and sweet spice/seasoning blends.
